UNFOLD THE
UNMISSABLE.

Galaxy Z Fold7 · Creative concept, development & pitch

A Samsung launch built around the feeling of being there. “Unfold the Unmissable” made the Galaxy Z Fold7’s unfolding screen the gateway to the drama of Sky Sports — turning a distinctive piece of technology into an emotional viewing experience.

My role: from first idea to successful pitch.

This was the first idea I successfully pitched after joining Sky Media. I conceived and developed the creative, worked through scripts and visual treatments, and cut the mood films that helped sell the campaign. My contribution was to give the product a story — and make that story feel real in the pitch.

How it evolved

From concept to campaign
  1. 01 / The idea

    Make the fold mean something.

The starting point was the moment the phone opens. Everyday surroundings give way to a more absorbing viewing experience. Samsung’s signature fold became the turning point in the story.

  2. 02 / The development

    Bring the pitch to life.

I explored cinema and sport routes, developing scripts and cutting mood films to work through the setting, reactions, sound and screen reveal. Those edits made the atmosphere and rhythm of the idea tangible.

  3. 03 / The campaign

Put the audience in the moment.

The idea developed into the world of Sky Sports, with the anticipation and emotion of sport giving the product story its energy. The finished golf film shows that thinking realised for the Galaxy Z Fold7.

WHEN THE CREATIVESNEED A CREATIVE.

Helping an award-winning creative agency make its next big impression.

The Forge at PHD

An agency’s own reel has a lot to live up to. As DRUM became The Forge at PHD, I helped bring that next chapter to life with a new hero reel — putting the agency’s creativity, energy and ambition on screen.

There’s something especially satisfying about making creative work for people whose business is creativity. Helping an award-winning agency introduce itself to the world under a new name is a collaboration I’m proud of.

UNWRAP THE
UNEXPECTED.

A Christmas campaign for shows and films that didn’t fit the usual festive mould. We turned that mismatch into the idea: unwrap something unexpected.

MADE IN-HOUSE.
FOR MOVEMBER.

A shared cause, familiar voices and an edit made in the office. Sky talent contributed lines; I brought them together into a 30-second film to help promote Movember’s campaign.

I cut the piece in-house, effectively for free, shaping the contributions into one film. It’s a project that shows another side of the job: being hands-on, making the most of what’s available and putting those skills behind a good cause.

06 / Disney XDOriginal character / International campaign

Steve the Llama / Disney XD

ONE LLAMA.
GLOBAL APPEAL.

A back-to-school brief became a character Disney kept coming back to — on screens around the world.

A small brief. A big personality.

The brief was to give Disney XD’s back-to-school schedule an original idea on a modest budget. Working with creative editor Matthew Stephenson, I co-created Steve the Llama. The spark came from footage from an earlier shoot: a character waiting to happen.

I shot the footage and became Steve’s original voice, helping turn a llama in a field into a personality the channel could make its own.

He outgrew the brief.

Steve won Gold at Promax UK and became a recurring face of Disney XD. What started as one campaign lived on for a couple of years, with new appearances and adaptations across Disney territories.

He explained eclipses, welcomed new shows, became a gaming vlogger in Latin America and even appeared in a US rap campaign. A character with a life far beyond the original spot.

THE MANE
EVENT.

A casting call for the kings of the jungle. The applicants? Dogs.

Promax UK 2016Gold & Bronze. Two wins. One unlikely cast.

A launch with a sense of humour.

Disney Junior wanted to get parents talking ahead of The Lion Guard’s UK launch. We turned the brief into “The Mane Event”: an audition film starring dogs with big-cat ambitions.

I co-created the campaign with Matthew Stephenson and directed the film. A cast of canine hopefuls, some questionable manes and a child’s commentary gave parents a playful way into the world of the show.

Matthew’s son Stanley co-wrote and voiced the spot, aged just five.

LEGO Ezra in Space / Star Wars Rebels

SMALL REBEL.
BIG MISSION.

A LEGO hero. A real launch. An ambitious idea for Disney XD that made it off the ground.

RecognitionPromax winner.Star Wars Rebels / Disney XD

The pitch sounded ambitious. Good.

I co-created LEGO Ezra in Space with Matt Stephenson for Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels campaign. When I pitched sending a LEGO figure into space, the reaction in the room was disbelief: could we really pull it off, shoot it, cut it and deliver the film within the budget?

We did. A small LEGO figure became the star of a real mission, with the journey captured on camera and turned into a finished campaign film. The project went on to win at Promax.

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

FROM DISNEY.
TO COMIC-CON.

Made for Disney. Picked up by the show’s creators. Played at San Diego Comic-Con.

Made for fans to sing along.

I produced and co-created this Miraculous lyric film with Matt Stephenson for Disney, turning a new-season launch into something fans could sing along with.

It was a close creative collaboration: bringing the music, characters and lyrics together in a film full of the show’s personality.

San Diego Comic-Con / 2018

Then it found
a bigger stage.

The show’s creators picked up the film and screened it at San Diego Comic-Con. Having something we made for Disney chosen by the people behind the show, and shared with its fans at the convention, was a particularly proud moment.

TeamViewer × Sky Sports

Beyond the bumper.

TeamViewer already had a high-production-value F1 ad. As a major partner in the sport, it wanted deeper integration with Sky Sports — something that felt closer to the channel’s editorial voice.

We could have simply added a “Sky Sports presents” bumper. Instead, we worked the integration into the creative itself. My work covered multiple script options for approval and voiceover recording, helping the brand film feel more naturally part of the Sky Sports world.

Taking it further. I also pitched track-specific versions, with scripts referencing individual circuits for airtime around the corresponding Grands Prix — connecting the creative to the race weekend viewers were watching.

A bit about me

Good ideas deserve a good audience.

I’m Toby Wright, a creative director and filmmaker working across entertainment, sport and brand campaigns.

As Creative Solutions Manager at Sky Media, I develop ideas across sport, entertainment and brand partnerships. Before that, I spent years directing, producing and creating films, including work for Disney. I bring the same instinct to the pitch and the production: make something people want to spend time with.
